The IPL 2024 season has introduced a few new rules. Here are some of them :

1. Trade Window: The IPL Trade Window has played a pivotal role in facilitating team rebuilds, allowing franchises to engage in player swaps or all-cash deals. The trade window opens a month after a season ends and stays open up to a week before the auction date, and then re-opens a day after the auction and lasts until a month before the start of the new season .
2. Player Consent: Prior consent from the player is mandatory before any trading or transferring process takes place .
3. Icon Players: Icon players are not eligible for trade .
4. Budget Allocation: Teams do not need to use the entirety of their Rs 80 Crore but rules stipulate that at least 75% (Rs 60 Crore) must be allocated to players. Franchises can spend 30-40% of their budget on the top five players .
